A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST Saturday.
* Timing... a wintry mix of sleet... snow... and still some freezing rain in southwest Iowa will give way to steadier snow will develop this afternoon. Snow then will become moderate to possibly heavy overnight and into Friday. Light to moderate snow is then expected to continue through Friday night.
* Snow accumulations... storm total snow accumulations of 8 to 15 inches may occur from this storm.
* Winds... northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph.
* Impacts... this winter storm will have a crippling effect on travel and activities from tonight through Friday night. Along with significant snowfall... strong winds will produce blowing and drifting snow leading to widespread reduced visibilities and near blizzard conditions.
