A Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST Saturday.
* Timing... snow has generally ended ovr western Iowa and far eastern Nebraska for this afternoon. Snow will continue generally west of a line from Schuyler to Nebraska City. Snow will once again over spread the area this evening with light snow continuing overnight.
* Snow accumulations... new snowfall today west of the line from Schuyler to Nebraska City will generally be 1 to 3 inches. Snowfall tonight will be additional 1 to 2 inches across the entire area.
* Winds... northwest winds should average 20 to 30 mph... with gusts of 40 mph will continue over southeast Nebraska. The wind has decreased across western Iowa into east central Nebraska to 10 to 20 mph.
* Impacts... this winter storm will have a crippling effect on travel and activities into Saturday morning. Along with significant snowfall... strong winds will produce blowing and drifting snow... leading to blizzard conditions... especially in open areas. Some roads have drifted shut.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions... making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded... stay with your vehicle.
