Areal Flood Warning
Statement as of 10:25 AM CDT on May 22, 2015

The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
western and central Dawson County in south central Nebraska...

* until 1015 am CDT Wednesday

* though the river gage site at Cozad is technically below flood
stage at that location... minor flooding along the river will
continue in Dawson County at several locations. Flooding will
remain most extensive south of Gothenburg... but will also be
noted downstream to east of Lexington.

This Flood Warning continues until may 27. While the crest has
passed... the river will fall very slowly... only a few inches a day
at most. Therefore... this areal flooding warning will continue for
several days.

Fluctuations in river levels should be minimal as it falls... but
additional rainfall upstream over the weekend may eventually lead to
adjustments to future river forecasts. If your interests are
impacted by these high water levels... please monitor river levels
and the latest forecasts for the next several days.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. When encountering flooded roads make the
smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
