The leading edge of the band of precipitation is heading toward Yankton with the southern edge around Wilber...Lincoln...Omaha...and Underwood Iowa. Snow is the predominant type across the band from Norfolk to Onawa...and at times is heavy. Farther south...there is a mix of sleet...freezing rain...and rain toward Seward...Fremont...and Omaha. This band will continue to lift northward during the afternoon with accumulating snow from Albion to Wayne of 1 to 3 inches through 5pm.

The National Weather Service in Omaha/valley has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and blowing snow... which is in effect from 6 am Thursday to 6 am CST Saturday. The Winter Weather Advisory has been cancelled. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.
* Timing... a mix of very light rain... freezing drizzle... sleet and snow will be possible tonight... however any amounts should be light. The intensity and areal coverage will increase... with all snow expected during the morning with deteriorating conditions due to the strengthening winds.
* Snow accumulations... snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches of snow may occur from this storm with lighter amounts toward Fairbury.
* Ice accumulations... any ice accumulations should be very light.
* Winds... the wind will be increasing Thursday... and strong northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with higher gusts should continue through Friday night leading to considerable blowing and drifting snow and near blizzard conditions.
* Impacts... this system will produce significant impacts to travel Thursday through Friday night. Along with significant snowfall strong winds will produce blowing and drifting snow leading to reduced visibilities. Due to the combination of the strong winds and ice still on trees and power lines... power outages will also be possible during the storm.
