Nowcast | as of 6:24 am CST on March 3, 2015

Through 8 am CST...7 am MST...light to moderate snow will continue across northern Sheridan County and northern Cherry County. Snowfall rates of 1/4 inch per hour will occur in this snow from Hay Springs east to Valentine and Lynch. Periods of light snow will spread south toward Thedford...Oneill...Broken Bow and into southwestern Nebraska with an inch or less accumulation in these areas. North winds have increased to 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph across northern Nebraska associated with an Arctic front moving rapidly south. These strong winds will become common across most of western and north central Nebraska this morning. Blowing snow will become widespread along Highway 20 west of Valentine. Road surfaces will likely become snow and ice covered across northern Nebraska from Lynch west to Valentine to Hay Springs as a blast of Arctic air produces much colder temperatures causing the Road surface to cross the freezing mark. All of this winter weather was associated with an upper level disturbance moving through the northern plains which will usher in much colder Arctic air this morning. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect this morning for Sheridan...Cherry...Keya Paha and Boyd counties.
