... May temperatures were well below normal... while precipitation was
well above normal for both North Platte and Valentine...

Cool temperatures and much wetter than normal conditions were
present across western and north central Nebraska during the month
of may. For may North Platte tallied 4.34 inches of precipitation
while Valentine had 7.12 inches of rainfall... making may 2015 the
third wettest on record.

For North Platte... the average daily mean temperature for
may was 55.4 degrees which was 2.5 degrees below the normal
of 57.9 degrees. The average daily high temperature for may
was 66.9 degrees... which was 4.8 degrees below the normal of 71.7
degrees. The average daily low temperature was 43.9
degrees... which was 0.2 degrees below the normal of 44.1 degrees.
One daily record low was tied during the month of may for North
Platte. On the 21st... the low was 30 degrees for North
Platte... which also occurred in 1963 and 1931.

For Valentine... the average daily mean temperature for the month
of may was 55.0 degrees... and was 2.6 degrees below the
normal of 57.6 degrees. The average daily high temperature for
the month was 65.7 degrees... which was 5.2 degrees below the normal
of 70.9 degrees. The average daily low temperature was 44.3
degrees... which was right at the normal of 44.3 degrees. No
daily temperature records were set during may Valentine.

At Lee Bird Field in North Platte... precipitation for may
was 4.34 inches... and was 1.06 inches above the normal of 3.28
inches. No daily precipitation records were set during the month
for North Platte. Snowfall for the month totaled a trace... which was
was right at the normal of a trace. No daily snowfall records were
set during the month for North Platte.

At Miller Field in Valentine... precipitation for may totaled
7.12 inches... which was 3.99 inches above the normal of 3.13
inches. One daily precipitation record was set during the month of
may in Valentine. On the 9th... 1.08 inches of rain fell at Miller
Field. This mark broke the record of 0.97 inches set previously in
1890. No snowfall fell during the month of may in Valentine.
