Statement as of 4:14 PM CST on December 24, 2009 ... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST Friday... ... Blizzard Warning remains in effect from 6 am Friday to 6 PM CST Saturday... A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST Friday. A Blizzard Warning remains in effect from 6 am Friday to 6 PM CST Saturday. * Snow will continue with accumulations of 1 to 3 inches tonight. Heavy snow will develop Friday through Saturday. * Additional snow accumulations late tonight into Saturday are expected to range from 12 to 15 inches. * Northwesterly winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 40 and 50 mph late Thursday night through Saturday will create blizzard conditions. Visibilities will be reduced to one quarter mile or less during this time. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for snow and blowing snow means that visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and blowing snow. Use caution when traveling... especially in open areas. A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely.
