Statement as of 9:23 PM MST on December 22, 2009 ... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from 6 am CST /5 am MST/ Wednesday through Friday afternoon... A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from 6 am CST /5 am MST/ Wednesday through Friday afternoon. * Snow is expected to develop across western North Dakota Wednesday and then spread east during the day. Snowfall intensity should increase Wednesday through Thursday night before slowly decreasing Friday. * Snowfall amounts could range from 6 to 10 inches across much of western and central North Dakota through Friday... with 3 to 6 inch amounts in the far west. * Northwesterly winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 35 to 40 mph are expected to develop Thursday into Friday night. This could bring near blizzard conditions... especially near and southeast of Bismarck. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
