* flood advisory for flooding along Devils Lake and Stump Lake in... eastern Benson County in northeast North Dakota... west central Nelson County in northeast North Dakota... southern Ramsey County in northeast North Dakota...
* until 300 PM CDT... Monday, July 6th.
* Homes... dikes... roads... and utility infrastructures near the Devils Lake and Stump Lake shorelines will be adversely affected by High Lake levels throughout the Spring and Summer months.
* Residents and visitors should use extreme caution when they are near the Lake Shores... especially during windy weather.
* Due to recent lake level rises to above historical record levels... devils and Stump Lakes are experiencing flooding along their shorelines. During windy weather... the possibility for severe bank erosion will be increased.
* Lake levels which rise due to Spring runoff typically stabilize in the mid-Summer when evaporation tends to exceed inflows... and then recede a bit in the autumn when Summer rains taper off.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A flood advisory is issued for a specific community or an area along a river where flooding has been forecast... is imminent... or is in progress and is a threat to life and property.
Turn around dont drown. Avoid driving on flooded roads. Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles.
The flood advisory will remain in effect until the water has receded and the flooding is no longer a hazard.
