Coastal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 4:18 PM EST on November 15, 2009
... Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from 6 am to noon EST
Monday...
The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a coastal
Flood Advisory... which is in effect from 6 am to noon EST Monday.
Tide levels continue to remain 1 to 1.5 feet above predicted
astronomical tides throughout this afternoon and will likely remain
so at the next higher of the 2 new moon astronomical high tide
cycles during Monday morning... between 7 am and 10 am. This will
bring total tide levels to minor coastal flood thresholds across
those vulnerable locations across the coastal areas. These areas
include low-lying beaches... tidal creeks and marshes... and lagging
high tide low lying regions lying along the Intracoastal Waterway
and tidal influenced rivers.
Vehicles parked in flood prone locations should be moved to
higher ground. Low elevation streets near beaches... marshes and
rivers may become impassible due to high water. Be especially
careful at night when it is more difficult to judge the depth of
the water.
