* Through Friday morning
* periods of heavy rain will continue today... and last through
Friday morning. Additional rainfall amounts will average 3 to 6
inches through 700 am Friday morning. Total rainfall amounts
will range between 6 to 10 inches... with the lower amounts
north and west... highest amounts south and east. Locally higher
amounts around one foot will be possible across Hampton Roads in
southeast Virginia and across northeast North Carolina.
* Heavy rainfall will cause flooding of creeks and small
streams. Additionally... flooding will also occur in poor
drainage areas.

Hampton... Norfolk... Suffolk... and Elizabeth
City
* until 215 PM EST Thursday
* at 812 am EST... Weather Service radar showed a widespread area of
moderate to heavy rain. An estimated 3 to 5 inches has already
fallen over the area. This will likely continue the threat for
some flooding of creeks... small streams... low lying and
flood prone areas.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Additional rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are possible in the
warned area.
Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
