* until 1015 PM EST
* at 759 PM EST... Onslow County emergency communications reported that several roads south and southwest of Jacksonville remained closed due to flooding. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch will continue the threat of flooding this evening.
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported. Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected. However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams... highways and underpasses. Additionally... country roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks... streams and other low lying areas are subject to flooding.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground.

* widespread rain will continue tonight as low pressure moves slowly northeast along the coast. Additional rainfall amounts will range from 2 inches southwest to 4 inches closer to the coast. This will lead to significant runoff... with flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas possible.
