... The Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory remains in effect until
1130 PM EST for Rowan... southern Iredell... Mecklenburg... Cabarrus and
Union counties in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
At 526 PM EST... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
continued light to moderate rainfall across the Charlotte Metro area
and the Interstate 77 corridor. Rain gages report fairly widespread
one quarter inch per hour rates... with rain totals for the day now
reaching 1 to 1.5 inches... especially east of Interstate 77.
Deep ponding of water and isolated Road closures in low lying and
normally poor drainage areas will be possible throughout the evening
hours. Additional heavy rainfall will likely redevelop
overnight... and flash flood warnings could be required at some point.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Turn around and find another Route.
