* At 215 PM EST radar continued to detect light to moderate rain
falling over the advisory area. Rain late last night into early this
morning brought heavy rain. Additional rain this afternoon and early
evening may prompt streams to reach bank level... or for there to be
ponding of water in urban areas.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water on country roads and
farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.

am Thursday morning are forecast... with additional heavy rain
possible during the day Thursday in the piedmonts of southwest
Virginia and northwest North Carolina.
* Heavy rainfall will cause flooding of creeks and small
streams... possibly beginning this afternoon. Flooding of main
Stem rivers is also expected later tonight through Thursday. See
