	Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 6:22 AM EST on November 12, 2009 ... Flood Watch in effect until 10 am EST this morning... The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has issued a * Flood Watch for a portion of eastern North Carolina... including the following areas... Beaufort... Carteret... Craven... Jones... Martin... Onslow... Pamlico and Pitt. * Until 10 am EST this morning * widespread rain will continue this morning as low pressure moves slowly northeast along the coast. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are expected north of Highway 70 with up to 1 inch south. These amounts on top of the 3 to 6 inches that has already fallen will lead to significant runoff... with flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas continuing to be possible. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
