... Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect from 8 PM this evening to 2 PM EST Sunday...
A coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect from 8 PM this evening to 2 PM EST Sunday.
Northwest winds of 25 to 30 mph with higher gusts will develop this evening along the coast. These winds will increase waters levels 2 to 3 feet above normal on the Soundside of the Outer Banks tonight. This will result in minor flooding adjacent to the sound from Rodanthe south to Ocracoke Village around the time of high tide. High tide in the sound will occur around midnight tonight and around noon Sunday. The winds will gradually subside late tonight and Sunday.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore. Residents in areas prone to flooding should take action to protect property that may be threatened.
