Issued: 8:21 PM EST Feb. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Neuse River at Kinston.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 8 PM Tuesday the stage was 17.1 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 18.0 feet by
early Friday morning then begin falling.
* Impact... at 18.0 feet... widespread low land flooding is likely
adjacent to the river. Water will begin to approach some secondary
roads over the southeast sections of Kinston. Residents who live in
flood prone areas near the river should begin to move property to
higher ground.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Contentnea Creek near Hookerton.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 8 PM Tuesday the stage was 15.3 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to a stage of 15.1 feet
by Thursday morning.
* Impact... at 15.0 feet... water will begin to threaten homes
downstream in Grifton and Tick Bite. Some secondary roads mainly on
the south side of the creek in Lenoir County will flood.
