Through 600 am...a line of showers and thunderstorms mainly east of Highway 17 will continue to move northeast around 20 mph. These showers and thunderstorms will produce moderate to heavy rainfall...upwards of an inch per hour. The heaviest rain will impact areas in and around Morehead City...Cedar Island...Bayboro...Rose Bay...Manns Harbor...and Manteo. In addition to reduced visibility during heavy rain...a few inches of runoff could cover roadways. Motorists traveling this morning in the affected areas should anticipate extra time due to these storms. These showers could linger over eastern portions of the area through late morning. Stay tuned to NOAA all hazards radio for further updates.
