... Pockets of dense fog across the northern coastal plain this
morning...

Weather observing sites and sheriff deputies report pockets of
dense fog occurring in sections of the northern coastal plain
early this morning. The dense fog was more prevalent near creeks
and streams and in low areas. Deputies in Nash County report that
the dense fog is sporadic with the visibility varying from a few
miles to just a few feet in a matter of seconds.

Observations from the Rocky Mount Wilson Airport and the Halifax
County Airport indicate visibilities varying between a half mile to
less than a quarter of a mile.

Motorists early this morning should remain extra alert while
driving to their destinations due to the sporadic nature of the
dense fog. When traveling through foggy areas... slow down and use
low beam headlights to reduce the glare.

If the dense fog becomes widespread... a dense fog advisory will
need to be issued.
