... Flood Watch remains in effect through late Thursday night...
The Flood Watch continues for
* a portion of southeast North Carolina... including the
following areas... Bladen... Brunswick... Columbus... New
Hanover... Pender and Robeson.
* Through late Thursday night
* the remnants of Hurricane Ida will bring heavy rainfall to the
area late tonight through Wednesday and into Thursday. The
heaviest rain is expected to occur Wednesday afternoon and
Wednesday night. At this time flooding issues will be most
likely to occur. 4 to 6 inches of rain is expected through
Thursday... with locally higher amounts possible.
Rainfall rates will generally be moderate to occasionally
heavy... but the prolonged nature of the rain will lead to
potential flooding problems. The widespread nature of the rain
may lead to river flooding later in the week. Some major rivers
may experience minor flooding by Friday into the weekend.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be
alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to
flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding
develop.
