Coastal Flood Advisory
Issued: 4:12 AM EST Feb. 10, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until noon EST
today...

* location... the usual vulnerable areas along the ocean side of
Hatteras Island where ocean overwash and erosion from large
swells is expected.

* Coastal flooding... ocean overwash is the main concern around the
time of high tide this morning. Water could briefly cover
portions of Highway 12 in the usual areas susceptible to ocean
overwash from large swells.

* Timing... around high tide near 9 am.

* Impacts... minor ocean overwash and minor beach erosion.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
