area of heavy rain moving into the warned area from the
south-southwest. Most of the warned area has already received 2 to 3
inches of rainfall.
Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible in the
warned area.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... highways and underpasses. Additionally... country
roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks... streams and other low
lying areas are subject to flooding.

Horry County in northeast South Carolina
southwestern Brunswick County in southeast North Carolina
central Marion County in northeast South Carolina
Columbus County in southeast North Carolina

* at 909 am EST National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated an
area of enhanced heavy rainfall moving across most of central Horry
County. The heaviest rain is currently falling across routes 501 and
701 from Galivants Ferry to Conway. A trailing area of heavy rain
near the coast is affecting a large stretch of Highway 17 from
Myrtle Beach on south. This rainfall will slowly move to the
northeast over the next two to three hours.
Additional rainfall amounts of two inches are possible in the warned
area.
This heavy rainfall has already caused parts of Highway 17 to be
closed in Georgetown County due to flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water in urban areas...
highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
areas and low lying spots.
