Scattered showers and thunderstorms will move east at 25 mph across the North Carolina mountains through the middle part of the evening. The heaviest rain will move across parts of Madison County... northern Buncombe...and into Yancey County through 9 PM. Another area where potentially heavy rain will fall will be the smokies. Rainfall rates of one inch per hour are possible. A few of the showers may come down off the Blue Ridge and move out over the foothills through 10 PM as well.
