The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has issued a coastal Flood Advisory... which is in effect from 8 PM this evening to 1 PM EST Thursday.
Low pressure will move slowly northeast along the coast tonight and Thursday. This will produce strong east winds of 30 to 40 mph tonight... with winds becoming north and decreasing to 20 mph Thursday. These winds will increase water levels over the western Pamlico Sound including the lower Pamlico river. Minor flooding will be possible with water levels rising 2 to 3 feet above normal... especially late tonight.
