The Flood Watch is now in effect for
* a portion of eastern North Carolina... including the following areas... Beaufort... Martin... Pamlico and Pitt.
* Until 4 PM EST this afternoon
* widespread rain will continue this morning as low pressure moves slowly northeast along the coast. Additional rainfall amounts 1 inch are expected into the afternoon. This additional rain on top of the 3 to 6 inches that has already fallen will lead to significant runoff... with flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas continuing to be possible.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
