Statement as of 4:46 AM EDT on April 24, 2014

...Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until 8 am EDT this morning...

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a coastal Flood Advisory...which is in effect until 8 am EDT this morning.

* Location...the lower Cape Fear River including downtown Wilmington.

* Coastal flooding...the tide gauge in downtown Wilmington will reach 5.70 feet MLLW.

* Timing...the highest water levels will occur around 6 am EDT.

* Impacts...several inches of water will cover portions of battleship Road and the lower portions of the U.S.S. North Carolina battleship Memorial parking lot. Water may also spread out of the storm drains onto portions of Water Street just south of Market street in downtown Wilmington.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that some flooding is expected adjacent to the lower Cape Fear River.
