Discussion... sly winds at 20-25 kt had advected a moisture boundary
layer... with dewpoints into the mid 60s... across the ern Carolinas
and far sern VA... ahead of a stationary front. A weak upper wave
appears to have aided the development of elevated thunderstorms on
the cold side of the front. As these storms shift ewd... the updrafts
should be able to tap into moist and unstable air mass. With
effective shear at 60 kt and low level srh around 500 m2/s2...
rotating storms are likely with the potential of a tornado or two.
Aviation... tornadoes and a few severe thunderstorms with hail
surface and aloft to 1 inch. Extreme turbulence and surface wind
gusts to 60 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 400.
Mean storm motion vector 23040.
