Freeze Warning

...Freeze warning remains in effect until 10 am EDT this morning... ...Freeze warning in effect from 2 am to 9 am EDT Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a freeze warning...which is in effect from 2 am to 9 am EDT Thursday. The freeze watch is no longer in effect.

* Event...a widespread hard freeze until mid-morning. Another freeze is expect tonight with low temperatures dropping into the upper 20s to lower 30s over much of the region Thursday morning.

* Timing...freezing temperatures early this morning and again tonight/Thursday morning between 2 and 9 am et.

* Impacts...area fruit trees and strawberries are blooming...making them susceptible to freeze damage. Additional early Spring Time vegetable crops...such as onions and spinach are also vulnerable to these subfreezing conditions. Area growers will need to take precautions to prevent damage to their crops.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are expected or occurring. These conditions may kill crops and other sensitive vegetation that are left unprotected.
