Statement as of 6:27 AM EST on February 12, 2012

... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 10 am EST this
morning...

* locations... the northern and central mountains of North
Carolina.

* Wind chill values... ranging between 5 to 15 below.

* Impacts... prolonged exposure to low wind chills may result in
frost bite and possibly hypothermia. Outdoor pets and livestock will
also need shelter from wind and cold temperatures.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.
