* locations... the northern mountains of North Carolina.
* Hazards... bitterly cold wind chills will continue through mid morning.
* Timing... in effect until 10 am.
* Impacts... prolonged exposure to low wind chills may result in
frost bite and possibly hypothermia. Outdoor pets and livestock will also
need shelter from wind and cold temperatures.
* Temperatures... 7 to 18 above.
* Winds... northwest at speeds between 15 and 30 mph with gusts up
to 35 mph over the higher elevations during the early morning.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.
