Franklin Severe Watches & Warnings NOAA Weather Radio

Special Statement
Statement as of 12:51 AM EDT on April 23, 2014

...Increased fire danger across central North Carolina today from 9 am to 7 PM...

Blustery northwest winds combined with a very dry air mass will create conditions favorable for increased fire activity on Wednesday. Northwest winds gusting between 20 and 30 mph and minimum relative humidity between 25 and 30 percent are expected. The drying effects of the wind and the air will make dead grasses and leaves potentially combustible from any ignition source such as a spark or discarded smoking material.

Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Any unattended fire needs to be reported immediately to the local Fire Department.
