The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a
* Flood Watch for portions of North Carolina and southwest
Virginia... including the following areas... in North Carolina...
Alleghany NC... Ashe... Surry... Watauga... Wilkes and Yadkin. In
southwest Virginia... Carroll... Floyd... Grayson and Patrick.
* From late tonight through Sunday evening
* two to three inches of rain... with locally higher amounts are
expected by Sunday evening as abundant moisture moves over our
region in advance of an approaching front combined with an
upper level disturbance moving through.
* Flooding of small creeks and streams are possible where the
heaviest rain falls. Flooding of low lying areas and low water
crossings is also expected.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be
alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to
flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding
