Weather Underground midday recap for Wednesday, June 19, 2013. A transitional weather day occurred Wednesday as some areas of the country experienced active weather. The most active weather developed in the Plains as a storm moved through the Rockies and into the western Plains. This feature carried some moisture that produced areas of scattered showers and thunderstorms from the Oklahoma panhandle through Nebraska. Some of these thunderstorms were quite strong and were related to the thunderstorm that produced a tornado at the Denver International Airport Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a front moved along the eastern seaboard and produced areas of scattered showers and even some thunderstorms from Virginia through the Northeast coast. As the front moved off the coast, rain diminished for most areas. The one exception to this was in North Carolina where the front lingered through the afternoon.

Elsewhere, scattered showers developed through the Northwest and Intermountain West as a Summer storm system moved through the area.

A large high pressure system anchored over the Great Lakes provide dry conditions for much of the northern half of the country from the Plains through much of New England.

The Northeast rose into the 70s and 80s, while the Southeast saw temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The Southern Plains rose into the 90s and 100s, while the Southwest saw similar temperatures.

The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
the Corral fire burn scar in the scratchgravel hills located in
south central Lewis And Clark County in west central Montana...

* until 700 PM MDT

* at 451 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
very heavy rain that could cause flash flooding and debris flows
from a thunderstorm over the warned area.

* Flash flooding and debris flows will generally remain over the
Corral fire burn scar in the scratchgravel hills.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding... mud and debris flows are
imminent or already occurring. Move to higher ground. Residents
living along streams and creeks should take immediate precautions to
protect life and property.

The Elbow pass wildfire burn scar and the Falls Point wildfire
burn scar in west central Lewis And Clark County in west central
Montana...

* until 815 PM MDT

* at 414 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
flash flooding and debris flows resulting from a thunderstorm over
the warned area.

* Multiple storms will continue to move over the burn scar areas and
could produce several rounds of flash flooding and debris flows
through this evening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding... mud and debris flows are
imminent or already occurring. Move to higher ground. Residents
living along streams and creeks should take immediate precautions to
protect life and property.
