The National Weather Service in Billings has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow... which is in effect from 5 PM this afternoon to 5 PM MST Thursday.
10 to 14 inches of snow is expected by the time snowfall subsides late Thursday... with locally heavier amounts expected on west facing slopes. Mixed precipitation will begin over west facing slopes this afternoon. As temperatures cool this evening precipitation will turn over to all snow and intensify through the overnight hours. The heaviest snowfall will occur from midnight to noon over southern and western portions of the warned area... and from 6 am through 6 PM MDT over northern and eastern sections of the warned area.
