... Red flag warning in effect from noon to 9 PM MDT Tuesday for low
humidity... gusty winds and isolated lightning for fire weather
zones 113... 115... 117 and 118...

The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a red flag
warning for gusty winds... low humidity and isolated lightning... which is
in effect from noon to 9 PM MDT Tuesday.

* Affected area... fire weather zones 113... 115... 117 and 118.

* Winds... west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* Cold front... a cold front will move east across the region late
Tuesday afternoon and evening... shifting winds from the west
southwest to the west northwest. Isolated thunderstorms are
possible along the cold front.

* Relative humidity... 15 to 25 percent Tuesday afternoon.

* Temperatures... near record warm temperatures in the 60s to
around 70 at lower elevations.

* Isolated thunderstorms... mainly south and east of a line from
Great Falls to Havre... late Tuesday afternoon could produce
isolated stronger wind gusts and potential fire starts.

* Impacts... the combination of unseasonably warm and dry
conditions along with gusty and shifting winds and isolated
lightning will create critical fire weather conditions Tuesday
afternoon and evening, particularly in grassland areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Wednesday.

* Impacts: low humidities... unseasonably warm temperatures...
strong gusty winds... and wind shift with a cold front will
create erratic fire behavior.

* Affected area:
in north central WY fire zones... 274... 284.
In south central Mt fire zones... 123... 124... 125... 126... 127
                                   128... 129.
In southeast Mt fire zones... 130... 131... 132.
In southeast Mt and northwest SD fire zone... .133.

* Counties affected:
in central Mt... Golden Valley... Musselshell... Wheatland.
In north central WY... Big Horn... Johnson... Sheridan... Washakie.
In northwest SD... Harding.
In south central Mt... Big Horn... Carbon... park... Stillwater
                        Sweet Grass... Yellowstone.

Tuesday afternoon and night.

* Humidity: 10 to 15 percent Tuesday afternoon and again by
Wednesday afternoon. Only moderate recovery Tuesday night.

* Temperatures: in the 70s across the western zones... and near 80
degrees on the eastern plains Tuesday afternoon. Cooler
Wednesday with highs mainly in the 50s to around 60 degrees.

A combination of gusty winds... low relative humidity... and warm
temperatures will contribute to extreme fire behavior. Please make
sure any recent controlled Burns are completely out. Avoid use of
anything that may spark fires.
