High Wind Warning
Statement as of 3:06 AM MDT on August 30, 2015

... High Wind Warning in effect from noon today to midnight MDT
tonight...

The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a High
Wind Warning... which is in effect from noon today to midnight MDT
tonight. The high wind watch is no longer in effect.

* Winds... southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* Timing... a second cold front will move through central Montana
between 3pm and 9pm MDT Sunday. Winds will strengthen first
along the northern Rocky Mountain front... then spread
eastward onto the adjacent plains through Sunday evening.

* Impacts... a cold front passing Saturday evening will bring
cooler and more humid conditions to the area Sunday. Winds
will increase again as the second and potentially stronger
front moves across the mountains. Although humidity of 25 to
40 percent will remain above critical fire weather criteria...
strong winds have the potential to maintain extreme behavior
on existing fires.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
