Areal Flood Warning
Statement as of 4:24 PM MDT on May 26, 2015

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 330 PM MDT Friday for
central Powder River County...

The Powder River in Powder River County is rising rapidly as of
Tuesday afternoon... and significant flooding is expected along the
river this week. The river is expected to crest at Moorhead between
10 and 12 feet Wednesday night. High water will travel downstream to
the Broadus and Powderville areas as well. This will be the highest
that the river has been in many years.

There is some uncertainty in what the peak river level will be since
some water will leave the river channel upstream of the area... but
you should still expect the river to spill out of its banks in
places... flooding farmland and possibly causing property damage.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Move cattle and farm equipment to higher ground immediately. Prepare
for rapidly rising water and flooding near the Powder River. Do not
attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
