... An isolated strong thunderstorm forming on east side of Barnett Reservoir and moving southwest...
A strong thunderstorm capable of producing 40 mph winds... deadly lightning strikes and brief heavy rainfall was located 3 miles east of Fannin at 432 PM CDT... moving southwest at 5 mph.
This storm should stay on the east side of the Barnett Reservoir however... if you can hear thunder you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Those engaged in outdoor activity on the water should move to a place of safety until the storm passes or dissipates.
High winds can bring down trees and large limbs resulting in serious injury or property damage. Exercise extreme caution when outdoors during such strong winds... and be especially aware of older trees.
People in northern Rankin County should monitor this storm closely.
