Statement as of 1:41 AM CDT on July 06, 2009 The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued an * urban and small stream flood advisory for... southern Panola County in northwest Mississippi... southern Quitman County in northwest Mississippi... northern Tallahatchie County in northwest Mississippi... Yalobusha County in northwest Mississippi... * until 345 am CDT * at 141 am CDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated very heavy rain over the advisory area. Over the past hour... 1 to 2 inches of rainfall has fallen across the affected area. Locations affected by the urban and small stream flood advisory include Charleston... George Payne State Park... Water Valley... Belen... Coffeeville and Crowder. Precautionary/preparedness actions... .Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area... as rain and thunderstorms continue to redevelop over the same areas to the north of a stalling frontal boundary. .Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear.
