Statement as of 4:17 PM CST on December 03, 2009 ... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Friday evening through Saturday morning... A low pressure system will move across the central Gulf of Mexico Friday afternoon through Saturday morning. A cold airmass and deep moisture on the north side of the low pressure system will move into the southern portions of Mississippi and Alabama by late Friday afternoon. A mixture of rain and snow is expected across the watch area Friday evening... and eventually transition to all snow after midnight. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected across the watch area Friday night. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Listen to NOAA Weather Radio or your local media for the later updates on this situation.
