Lake Wind Advisory
Statement as of 3:13 AM CST on November 11, 2009
... Lake Wind Advisory now in effect from 8 am this morning to
4 PM CST this afternoon...
The lake Wind Advisory is now in effect from 8 am this morning to
4 PM CST this afternoon.
By mid-morning today... winds will become north at 20 to 25 mph... with
higher gusts... on Ross Barnett Reservoir... Okatibbee Lake... and
Columbus Lake. These winds are the result of the tight pressure
gradient northwest of departing low pressure system. The pressure
gradient will decrease late this afternoon... allowing the winds to
diminish.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
