Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Monday, February 13, 2012.

The trough of low pressure that brought unsettled weather to the West on Sunday will advance into the Plains on Monday with more mixed precipitation. The trough will support a low and associated warm front moving eastward into the Southern Plains. As the system progresses, rain showers with periods of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms will spread from parts of central/eastern Texas into western Louisiana, mixed precipitation will develop in parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas, and snow will blanket parts of the Central Plains, Mid-Mississippi Valley, and parts of the western Ohio Valley. Areas from eastern Texas through Arkansas should expect the heaviest precipitation totals. Heightened winter weather conditions will allow Winter Weather Advisories and a few Winter Storm Warnings to remain in effect through the day. Elsewhere east of the Continental Divide, lake-effect snow showers will continue along parts of the Lower Great Lakes Snowbelt.

In the West, a Pacific cold front pushing across the Pacific Northwest will drop southward across northern California, bringing coastal and valley rain and significant snowfall to the Sierra Nevadas.

Winter Weather Advisory
Mobile & Email Alerts Statement as of 9:37 PM CST on February 12, 2012

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until midnight CST
Monday night...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow remains in effect until
midnight CST Monday night.

* Timing and areas affected... light snow will begin for areas
along and west of Highway 71 between 12 and 3 am... with around
one inch of accumulation by the morning rush hour. Light snow
will begin for areas between Highway 71 and Highway 65 between 3
and 6 am... with less than an inch of snow accumulation by the
morning rush hour. Areas east of Highway 65 can expect light
snow to begin from 5 am into the daylight hours of Monday
morning... with a dusting of accumulation possible during the
morning rush hour.

* Snow accumulations... light snow with periods of moderate snow
will gradually accumulate from early Monday morning into Monday
evening. By Monday evening storm total snow accumulations of one
to three inches with locally heavier amounts are expected across
the outlook area.

* Ice accumulations... ice accumulation of one tenth of an inch or
less will be possible for areas along and south of the Highway
60 Corridor. North of the Highway 60 corridor... ice
accumulations of a few hundredths of an inch will be possible.

* Impacts... Road surfaces will become slick and hazardous on
Monday. Areas along and west of the Highway 65 corridor will
likely experience slick roadways during the Monday morning
commute to work or school. Even though the wintry precipitation
will end by Tuesday morning... slick roads will likely persist
into Tuesday morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
