... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect from 8 am this morning
to 6 am CST Tuesday...
The Winter Weather Advisory for snow is now in effect from 8 am this
morning to 6 am CST Tuesday.
* Timing: a cold rain will gradually mix with and changeover to snow
west of a St. Joseph to Maryville line by mid-morning into the
early afternoon. Periods of snow will be possible into the evening
hours.
* Main impact: a heavy wet snow is expected to impact the Interstate
29 corridor... especially during the afternoon and early evening
hours. Snowfall rates could locally exceed one inch per hour...
resulting in significantly reduced visibilities and slushy to snow
covered Road conditions. Accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are
possible in the advisory area.
* Other impacts: warm roads may initially limit accumulation on Road
surfaces but snowfall rates may be high enough to overwhelm those
relatively warmer Road surfaces. Heavier snow amounts are more
likely on elevated and grassy surfaces.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
