Statement as of 4:05 PM CST on November 16, 2009 ... Flood Watch remains in effect through late tonight... The Flood Watch continues for * portions of Illinois and Missouri... including the following counties... in Illinois... Adams IL... Brown IL... Calhoun IL... Greene IL... Jersey IL... Macoupin IL and Pike IL. In Missouri... Knox... Lewis... Lincoln... Marion... Pike... Ralls and Shelby. * Through late tonight * the threat for flooding rain continues across northeast Missouri and west central Illinois tonight. Widespread accumulations of 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts are expected in those areas. * Expect gradual rises up to and exceeding flood stage on area streams and rivers through the period. Localized heavy rain could cause smaller streams and creeks to respond more rapidly than larger rivers. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Flood Watch means that flooding is possible but not imminent in the watch area. People in the watch area are urged to check on preparedness requirements... especially if you have interests along area rivers.
