Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 2:02 PM CST on November 15, 2009
... Flood Watch in effect through Monday morning...
The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a
* Flood Watch for portions of central Missouri... east central
Missouri and northeast Missouri... including the following
counties... in central Missouri... Audrain... Boone... Callaway...
Cole... Moniteau and Osage. In east central Missouri...
Crawford... Franklin... Gasconade... Montgomery and Warren. In
northeast Missouri... Monroe.
* Through Monday morning
* periods of moderate to heavy rainfall will affect the region for
the rest of the day. The potential for heavy rain will continue
through tonight into Monday morning. The heavy rainfall threat
should diminish on Monday afternoon as drier air works into the
storm system which is causing the precipitation.
* Expect gradual rises up to and exceeding flood stage on area
streams and rivers through the period. Localized heavy rain
could cause smaller streams and creeks to respond more rapidly
than larger rivers.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means that flooding is possible but not imminent in
the watch area. People in the watch area are urged to check on
preparedness requirements... especially if you have interests
along area rivers. Stay informed... and be ready for action if
flooding is observed or if a Flood Warning is issued.
