Statement as of 3:44 AM CST on December 25, 2009 ... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until noon CST today... The Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow is now in effect until noon CST today. * Timing and areas affected... a combination of sleet and snow early this morning will turn completely over to snow by sunrise. Communities east of a line from Crane to Springfield to Versailles can expect these conditions through noon today. * Snow accumulation... a snow accumulation ranging from a trace to 2 inches is expected... however... some light ice and sleet accumulation will make for hazardous travel this morning. * Winds and visibility... strong northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with higher gusts will produce some blowing and drifting of snow where light snow occurs on Christmas day. * Impacts... travel conditions this morning could be significantly impacted across parts of central and south central Missouri. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and blowing snow. Use caution when traveling... especially in open areas.
