Statement as of 12:39 PM CST on December 25, 2009 ... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening... A Winter Weather Advisory for mixed freezing driizle... sleet... and snow remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening. * Timing and areas affected... rain will change to sleet and freezing rain and freezing drizzle overnight. Periods of light snow will be possible on Christmas day. * Snow accumulation... a snow accumulation ranging from a trace to 2 inches is expected... however... some light ice and sleet accumulation will make for hazardous travel overnight into Christmas day. * Winds and visibility... strong northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with higher gusts will produce some blowing and drifting of snow where light snow occurs on Christmas day. * Impacts... travel conditions Christmas eve and Christmas day could be significantly impacted across parts of central and south central Missouri. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and blowing snow. Use caution when traveling... especially in open areas.
