The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Barry County in southwest Missouri...
Lawrence County in southwest Missouri...
McDonald County in southwest Missouri...
Newton County in southwest Missouri...

* until 900 am CDT Saturday.

* At 1044 PM CDT... the Department of Transportation and river gauge
readings indicated that flooding was occurring across the
warned area from heavy rainfall that fell Saturday afternoon
and evening. Additional light rain will be possible across
portions of the warned area overnight.

* Runoff from this rain is causing flooding. Creeks... streams and low
water crossings will be especially susceptible to the dangers of
flooding.

This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...

Highway 43 at Buffalo Creek west of Anderson...
business Highway 60 just north of Neosho...
Highway 97 at the Spring River north of Stotts City.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through Saturday afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri... including the
following areas... in southeast Kansas... Bourbon... Cherokee
and Crawford. In Missouri... Barry... Barton... Camden... Cedar...
Christian... Dade... Dallas... Douglas... Greene... Hickory...
Howell... Jasper... Laclede... Lawrence... McDonald... Newton...
Oregon... Ozark... Polk... Pulaski... Shannon... stone... Taney...
Texas... Vernon... Webster and Wright.

* Through Saturday afternoon

* showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall will impact much
of the Missouri Ozarks tonight before ending Saturday morning. This
rain will be falling on saturated or nearly saturated
soil... resulting in an increased risk for flash flooding.

* Small streams... creeks... low water crossings and area rivers
will be especially susceptible to flash flooding. Those floating
or camping on or near area rivers should be alert for rapid
rises of water levels.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

... The Flood Advisory for heavy rain remains in effect until 1100 am
CDT Saturday for Barry... Christian... Dallas... Douglas... Greene...
Laclede... Lawrence... southern Polk... stone... Taney... Webster and
Wright counties...

At 901 PM CDT... local law enforcement officials reported that heavy
rainfall was producing minor flooding across the advisory area.
Heavy rainfall that occurred this afternoon and evening on top of
saturated ground from recent rains is causing flooding of some low
water crossings and flood prone areas. Run off from this rain will
continue through the overnight hours into Saturday morning.

Runoff from this heavy rainfall is causing minor flooding. Creeks...
streams and low water crossings will be especially susceptible to the
dangers of flooding.

This advisory includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
