Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 10:39 AM CDT on May 28, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect through Friday morning...

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeast Kansas and
southwest Missouri... including the following areas... in
southeast Kansas... Bourbon... Cherokee and Crawford. In
southwest Missouri... Barton... Jasper... McDonald... Newton and
Vernon.

* Through Friday morning

* an area showers and thunderstorms over eastern Oklahoma moving
into southeast Kansas and far southwest Missouri will produce a
period of heavy rainfall over parts of the watch area this
afternoon. This area is already saturated from recent rounds of
heavy rain and will be susceptible to flash flooding... even with
just short periods of showers and thunderstorms.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
