Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 3:28 PM CST on March 04, 2015

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST
Thursday...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow remains in effect until
6 am CST Thursday.

* Short term trends... a band of moderate to heavy snow has pushed
east out of the area this afternoon... but the next band of
moderate to locally heavy snow has developed across northern
Arkansas and will spread across far southern and south central
Missouri late this afternoon into this evening. This band of
snow will continue into this evening... and then will taper off
to light snow late this evening into the overnight hours before
ending overnight.

* Timing and areas affected... areas along and southeast of a line
from Kimberling City... to Marshfield to Salem until early
Thursday morning.

* Snow and sleet accumulations... storm total snowfall of 4 to 6 inches
of snow are expected across southern and south central Missouri
through this evening.

* Winds and visibility... gusty north winds... combined with
moderate to at times heavy snow... will likely result in
visibility below one mile for much of the day.

* Impacts... snow on top of the sleet that fell early today will
likely result in considerable travel impacts across the area
into Thursday morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel... consider taking a winter storm
kit along with you. This kit should include such items as tire
chains... booster cables... a flashlight... shovel... blankets...
extra clothing and anything else that would help you survive in
case you become stranded.
